What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Core Beliefs

These are just a few core beliefs of Indian Wells Baptist church.  As a Baptist, the Bible is our final rule of authority for all matters of faith and practice.  Each of our beliefs can be found and explained through Scripture.
Local Church
We believe in the independent, local, autonomous, visible, indigenous church instituted by Christ himself and constituted by baptized believers. (Mt. 16:18; Acts 2:41; Rom. 4:25)
Salvation
Salvation is by Christ alone. It is a gift of God, received by man through faith and repentance toward God. This is wrought in the sinner’s heart by the work of the Holy Spirit convicting him of sin, righteousness, and judgment to come. (Mk. 1:15; Jn. 1:12; Eph. 1:7, 2:8-10; 1 Pt. 1:18,19; Tit. 3:5-6; Jn. 3:16)
 The Bible
The Bible as represented in English in the King James, is the verbal (every word), plenary (equally in all parts), inerrant (without error), infallible (without error in its teaching), preserved (protected by God), inspired (God breathed) WORD OF GOD. No book, version or writing, other than the Bible, qualifies as Scripture. (Deut. 9:50; Matt. 5:18; 2 Tim. 3:16; Jn. 10:35; Psa. 12:6,7; 1 Pet. 1:23,25;  Psa. 119:60)
The Rapture
We believe in the imminent, personal, bodily return of Jesus Christ to this earth. In this return Christ will rapture his saints prior to the tribulation. At the end of the seven years tribulation, Christ will return with his saints to establish his earthly, messianic reign, which was promised to the  nation of Israel. (Psa. 89:3,4;  Rev. 3:10; Tit. 2:13; 1 Thess. 1:10; 4:13-18)
The Holy Spirit
Jesus, upon his departure from this earth, promised a Comforter. This was given in the person of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost inhabits the believer upon salvation and fills him for service. Tongues were given to the Jews in relation to the church. Tongues, along with the other sign gifts, are no longer in use as is evident in Scripture.  (1 Cor. 13:8; 2 Cor. 13:7; 2 Pet. 1:21; Acts 20:28;  Jn. 4:24).
